H.O.K.E. Academy announces Arnell Garrett, a nationally respected researcher and data scientist, as a special guest speaker visiting the school on February 20 to lead an exciting and eye-opening presentation for their students.

Garrett brings over 20 years of experience in data science and more than 12 years working directly with climate change programs, including collaboration with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Her work spans climate science, biology, Arctic research, and environmental decision-making.

During her visit, Ms. Garrett will talk with students about climate change in Alaska, how melting ice is transforming the Arctic environment, newly exposed remains of long-extinct animals, how environmental data helps keep maritime travel safe, and what scientists do during Arctic field research.

Her passion lies in helping young people understand how science, data, and real-world exploration connect. Garrett specializes in breaking down complex environmental information so students can see how science shapes safety, policy, and the future of our planet.

It is an incredible opportunity for students to learn from a leading expert who is actively shaping the way scientists study and protect the environment. The Head Director is excited about the inspiring and educational experience that students will receive from this.
